Third Party Only
Third party only is the cheapest level of car insurance you can buy. All motorists are required by law to take out third party insurance.
The main benefit of this type of insurance is its affordability, but while the cost can be low it's worth remembering that the policy only covers liability to others. It offers no protection for you or your vehicle.

Third Party, Fire & Theft
Third party, fire and theft offers all the protection of third party only and comes with the added advantage of covering your own vehicle if it gets stolen or is the victim of damage caused by fire or theft.
TPFT can be a good option for cheaper cars but the policy still won't provide cover for you if you're involved in a driving accident.

Fully Comprehensive
With a fully comprehensive policy you receive all the cover provided by the options above plus cover for yourself and your vehicle in the event of an accident.
No fully comp policy will cover every eventuality but it is the most complete form of insurance available. Optional extras such as breakdown cover or a courtesy car are available and costs will vary between insurers.
